Program summary
The better safe! workshop consists of two sessions totaling six hours, at a location of your choosing, with however many team members you want to participate. Participants gain access to an instructor with unique, real-world experience leading staff and volunteers through allegations of workplace misconduct.
Purpose, methodology
This program is designed to enhance understanding of the complex issues (and potential pitfalls) involved with complaints of workplace misconduct. The goal: improve our ability to recognize and resolve situations quickly and successfully. Methodology centers around a core curriculum developed by better safe! which the instructor will customize during the workshops and provide to you upon completion.
Part 1: learning and listening
Day one of better safe! takes 3-4 hours. The instructor leads a collaborative review of existing protocols and safeguards, guiding participants through hypothetical scenarios involving internal complaints and external accusations. We’ll explore different types of workplace misconduct: how to discover warning signs of issues at the earliest possible stage, and best practices for addressing emergent situations.
Day 2: presenting a plan
The second day of the workshop is two hours long. The instructor will present customized documentation based on outcomes from Day 1, leading a review and updating documentation based on input. *If desired, the instructor can be present if/when the final plan is presented to stakeholders or trustees.
Value proposition
We may think of ‘human resources’ as a department, but really, it’s our people. If we’re intentional about their safety and well-being, they won’t need to spend unnecessary time and energy on self-protection. Being proactive enables you to get ahead of issues, rather than merely reacting to situations that spiral out of control. When our people know they’re safe, they are capable of amazing things.
